United Kingdom Electric Car Start Up

United Kingdom is also not loosing out in the electric car production race. Here, I've read an interesting article about the idea to start up an electric car manufacturing plant in UK.

EV Stores to undertake feasibility study into dedicated electric car manufacturing plant

Electric car start-up EV Stores has revealed it is to undertake a feasibility study into establishing what could prove to be the UK's first electric vehicle manufacturing plant in London.

The company, which imports and distributes the MyCar electric vehicle, is considering opening a facility that would allow it to import the car's components and assemble them in the UK.

Save Money By Using Reconditioned Deep Cycle Battery

I believe many people do agree that are many benefits to owning an electric vehicle (EV) compared to a gasoline driven car. Back in mid 2008, global crude oil prices reached its peak at $150/barrel. A lot of car owners were having a tough time trying to cope with the sudden rise in energy expense bill. Some industrialists were trying to push for the application of electric vehicle on the roads. Unfortunately, without economy of scale, a brand new EV is from the manufacturer is still relatively expensive to own. The next best alternative is to convert our existing vehicle to run on electric power.

An electric car retrofitting process is not really complicated. The idea is to remove the internal combustion engine and replace it with an electric motor. For the idea of a homemade electric car to be practical, the conversion project cost must be kept to a minimum. Apart from the cost of the electric motor, the second largest investment in an EV retrofitting is the batteries.

An average electric car would require 10 to 15 units of batteries. Buying all new batteries will definitely burst your budget. Alternatively, some EV conversion books have suggested to source for used batteries of electric golf carts. Getting the golf carts batteries from the service mechanic will require some people skill. By using second hand batteries, it can reduce your budget considerably.

If you think about it, there is a reason why someone would part with a set of good batteries. Most probably, the batteries are dead! A dead battery is not really dead per se, it can be brought back to live if you know how to. How to you recondition and dead battery? I will leave that question on another blog post.

Replacing Gasoline with Electric Car

How much electricity do we need to replace our gasoline consumption for our transportation system.

How Much Electricity Does It take To Replace Gasoline?

This was one of the major questions burning in my mind as I was doing research for The Manhattan Project of 2009.

If we took every gasoline-powered car, truck, and SUV and replaced their powertrain with an electric powertrain, how much electricity would it take to totally replace gasoline?

10 Things American Should Know About the Auto Industry

List of 10 things American should know about the auto industry now that they own a part of it.

Ten Things The Taxpayer Should Know About The U.S. Auto Industry Now That They Own It

As of the New Year, taxpayers will pretty much own General Motors, as well as Chrysler until that automaker is stripped or its assets flipped into GM. That’s because the market value of the two companies is less than the total amount the government is lending them to stay afloat, and because taxpayers are getting stock warrants in the companies equal to 20% of the loans.

Thinking Green: A Way to Heal What We Have Destroyed

SYNOPSIS: The Obama-Biden energy plan presages a hybrid revolution.

Wouldn't you just love to pull up to the Citgo gas station on York Road to see the price for regular gas set at $0.90? Unfortunately, prices set that low currently can only be found in the Middle East. If you're not interested in moving any time soon, I suggest you take a look at "The Obama-Biden Comprehensive New Energy for America Plan." A Hybrid Revolution seems to be in the near future.

Converting an internal combustion engine driven car into and electric vehicle

A lot of people have been wandering, is it really possible for someone to convert their fuel guzzling car into an electric vehicle. For that to happened, you need to get an electric car conversion guides.

If you want more prove, check out the article below.

Converting gas-powered cars to electric

Larry Horsley's pickup has a set of neatly arranged electronics where his engine once was.

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Larry Horsley loves that he doesn't buy much gas, even though he drives his '95 Chevy S-10 back and forth to work each day.

Horsley, a self-described do-it-yourselfer, simply plugs his truck into an electric wall outlet in his Douglasville, Georgia, garage and charges it overnight, instead of buying gasoline refined from mostly imported oil.

Electrifying cars Down Under

The alternative-energy automobile company known as Better Place plans to bring the same electric car system already in the works for Israel and Denmark to Australia. After raising $1 billion in capital—a tall order in today’s cold economic climate—Better Place founder Shai Agassi, a former software executive, Australian bank Macquarie and partners plan to build by 2012 electric car charge garages and battery exchange stations throughout Australia—all powered by wind turbines and other renewable resources (when possible)—to service the vehicles.
